Web design in Chichester: what local businesses should actually pay for.
We are based on the Chichester side of West Sussex. Here is our honest take on what businesses from Chichester to Portsmouth and Brighton actually need from a website, and what they are routinely overcharged for.
Oriyaa is a web studio based just outside Chichester, and most of the businesses we talk to across the south coast, from Bognor Regis and Portsmouth round to Worthing and Brighton, have the same two problems: a website that looks five years old, and no idea what a fair price is to fix it. This piece is our answer to both.
What a Chichester business actually needs
For most local trades, practices and shops, the list is short: a site that looks sharp on a phone, loads in under two seconds, says clearly what you do and where, and gives people one obvious way to get in touch. Then Google needs to be able to read it properly, so you show up when someone in PO19 or PO20 searches for what you do. That is genuinely the whole job. Everything else is decoration.
What local firms get overcharged for
- Monthly 'SEO packages' with no report and no rankings. If nobody can show you movement, you are paying rent on nothing.
- Page counts. A £4,000 quote because the site has ten pages is nonsense; most of those pages take an hour, not a week.
- Stock templates sold as custom design. If you can find your site's layout on a theme marketplace, you paid custom money for template work.
- Hosting mark-ups. Hosting a small business site costs pounds, not hundreds.
A local example
Arctic Electrical, an electrician serving Chichester and the surrounding area, came to us with no real web presence. They got a fast, NAPIT-badged site built to win enquiries, and work started coming in within the first week of going live. That is the standard a local site should be held to: not 'it looks nice', but 'the phone rings'.
We work with businesses across the UK and Europe from our base here, but if you are local, from Chichester itself out to Portsmouth, Southampton or Brighton, you get the same fixed pricing: sites from £850, agreed in writing, live in days. Book a 15-minute call and we will tell you straight what your business needs, and what it does not.
